BMW is an acronym for Bavarian Motor Works and is a German based company as well as one of the world’s most respected automakers. They are notable for building luxury cars and SUV’s which are sold worldwide. The company started as an aircraft manufacturer and it produced its first car, the Dixi in 1928. The car was a huge success and BMW continued to develop vehicles and new technologies, such as the world’s first light alloy V8 engine.
Over the past couple of decades BMWs have become the standard for performance and luxury across the board. Their advertising slogan “the ultimate driving machine” is more than just a saying, they have proven this through innovative technology and building luxury vehicles. They have a variety of different types of vehicles including wagons, sedans, distinctive coupes, sports cars, and SUVs. In the late 1990’s they expanded their brand to include Mini and Rolls-Royce. They also continue to build motorcycles which they have been doing since the 1920s.
BMW is a German based automobile manufacturer that is one of the world’s most respected and renowned for producing luxury cars and SUVs. The company was started in 1910 as an aircraft manufacturer. BMW’s current logo is designed to represent white propeller blades against blue sky. It also blue and white color scheme is also to represent Bavaria’s blue and white checkered flag.
In 1928 the production of the first BMW automobile, the Dixi began. It proved to be very popular and help the company weather the depression. Before WWII, BMW was best known for their two seater roadster, the Type 328, which had a lot of victories on the motorsport circuit.
By the 1970’s BMW had established themselves as a full-fledged car company and was a pioneer in emerging technologies such as turbo-charging. They opened their first US manufacturing plant in the late 90’s. BMW has become the standard for performance and luxury in high end vehicles.
