The Chevrolet Motor Car Company was formed by Louis Chevrolet, who was a Swiss born racecar driver and William Durant, who had been ousted by General Motors. The symbol that is used for the Chevrolet emblem is said to have been created by William Durant and was inspired by the wallpaper pattern in his Paris hotel room.
The company introduced the sporty Corvette, one of Chevy’s most famous icons in 1953. It was the first production car with a fiberglass body. In the 60’s they released the classic Camaro which was an instant hit and comprised 10 percent of Chevrolet’s total sales in 1967, which was the first year it was produced.
The Chevrolet Company has manufacturer some of the most famous American made cars of all time. These include the Corvette, Blazer, Suburban, and Camaro. They have a wide range of vehicles; everything from sub compact hatchbacks to SUVs. The company is currently developing hybrids and other fuel saving technologies to make vehicles that are more environmentally friendly.
The Chevrolet Company was started in 1911 by William Durant and Louis Chevrolet. The company’s first vehicle was the Classic Six. The Chevrolet brand symbol which looks like a bow tie was introduced in 1914. The company grew rapidly and grew stronger, by 1927 they had managed to outsell Ford.
They were the first to introduce the independent front suspension and made driving more comfortable and enjoyable. In 1918 Durant gained control of General Motors and Chevrolet quickly became another division of GM. In the 1970’s Chevy responded to the changing preference of current market and started to introduce small cars like the Vega and Chevette. They also downsized larger models including the Malibu and Caprice.
Chevrolet has the distinction of being a manufacturer of some of the most famous American cars and trucks of all time. These include the Corvette, Camaro, Blazer, and Suburban. The company is currently in the process of adapting to new trends and is developing hybrids and other fuel saving technologies.
