Jaguar cars are known for its luxury, elegant design, and powerful performance. The brand started in the UK and was associated with the wealthy upper class. The first vehicle to carry the Jaguar name was the SS Jaguar 100 which was released in 1935. By the 1950’s Jaguar had begun exporting luxury vehicles to the United States that were created just for the American market. In the 1960’s they launched one of the most well known models, which was the E type coupe or the XK-E as it was known in the US.
Jaguar’s success in the United States was attributed to groups like the Beatles and Rolling Stones and icons like Twiggy that made British culture a hot commodity during the 60’s. The Jaguar’s blended performance and refinement all wrapped in a sexy package and was coveted by Americans. Today the company has been through several buyouts and partnerships but the classic refined look can be still found in current models.
Jaguar is known for having a long history of elegant styling and sporting performance in all the vehicles they produce. The brand started in the UK and for years the vehicles were synonymous with the old world luxury of the British upper classes. Recently the company has been under the ownership of other automakers; however, they always have that unmistakable style of traditional English refinement.
In the late 80’s was continuing to raise the bar in performance but by this time Jaguar was also facing increased competition from German automakers. The company decided that is would be wise to join a partnership with another company. This led to a full buyout by the Ford Company in 1990. Recently due to the turmoil in the auto making industry, the Jaguar and Land Rover Company were sold to an Indian manufacturer, Tata in 2008. The new models show positive signs of being as stylish as the original vehicles.
