Saab is a Swedish car manufacturer and since its inception it has developed advancements in turbo charging, safety and green technology. Saab was originally created as a division of the Swedish Aeroplane Company. In 1949 the Saab 92, which was a passenger car, was released. The cars design highlighted the company’s roots in aviation.
The engine is modified to run on pure E100 bioethanol fuel. This fuel produces zero carbon dioxide emission. In tandem with the electric motor the powertrain has stop and start capability. It will also have an electric only mode for city driving. It will come with an automatic transmission and achieves zero to sixty miles per hour in less than 6.9 seconds.
Saab has led the way in the auto industry for innovations. The GT 750 was the first car fitted with seatbelts as standard. It introduced the first headlamp wipers and washers. It was the first manufacturer to offer CFC free air conditioning and asbestos free brake pads. It also developed the Safe Seat rear passenger protection system.
The Saab 9-7X is a midsize SUV, it is one of the first Saabs to feature all wheel drive. It has leather seats, 18inch alloy wheels and side curtain airbags. The vehicle also comes with OnStar, XM Satellite Radio, and a 6CD Bose audio system. This car was developed for the North American Market but has also been sold in many other countries.
Saab has always been a leader in innovations and technology and is developing the world’s first hybrid convertible, which is a soft top edition of the 9-3 BioPower Hybrid Concept. It runs on a combination of bioethanol fuel and electricity. It has a turbocharged 2.0 liter four cylinder engine.
The Saab hybrid drivetrain is significantly different from the Toyota system because it has two electric motors. It will have a 14 kilowatt motor integrated into the front drive powertrain and a second one driving the rear wheels. Saab is always looking toward the future.
